Q in the Lou Cancelled: A Call to Support Local Festivals

St. Louis has always been a city that thrives on local events, and Q in the Lou was no exception. Unfortunately, due to a lack of financial backing and sponsors, this beloved BBQ festival has been cancelled this year, leaving many wondering about the future of local festivals in our city.

The creator of the STL’s Pot Chef, a standing supporter of the festival known for their innovative infused competition series, expressed disappointment over the cancellation. While the St. Louis community has shown unwavering support for local culinary talent like STL’s Pot Chef, it's clear that more is needed to keep these events alive. The cancellation raises questions about whether our community is doing enough to support festivals and events that define our culture.

In recent years, events like STL’s Pot Chef Competition on April 21st and the Blazed & Infused BBQ Cook-Off on July 7th, which drew more than 85 supporters, have shown a surge in interest and support for cannabis-infused food festivals and competitions. This trend highlights the growing enthusiasm for local festivals, yet the cancellation of Q in the Lou reminds us that financial backing is crucial. With St. Louis becoming increasingly known for its vibrant event scene, the support of both locals and tourists is essential to sustaining these cultural experiences.

The spirit of St. Louis BBQ remains strong, but to ensure the longevity of events like Q in the Lou, we must continue to rally behind them. By supporting local festivals, we help preserve the traditions and culture that make St. Louis unique.

Don’t miss out on another exciting local event—The Munchie Market on Sunday, September 1st. Featuring over 20 different small businesses, this event promises a unique experience for all attendees. Get your tickets here https://www.stlpotchefs.com/events/stls-pot-chef-presents-the-munchie-market.
